White Bear with Big First Win

White Bear Lacrosse 7 vs Mirage 5

What a match-up and huge win for White Bear. The Mirage had an early lead and held onto that lead until part-way through the second half. Leading his team #15 Ryan Davlantes had 3 goals and 2 assists, slicing up the defense and helping his team get the first win of the year. Congratulations White Bear and hope to see you all next season!

Congratulations Jam your 2018 Northshore ULAX Champions

Union Army 2 vs Jam 7

Do not let the score fool you this was most exciting game of the year. Starting slow neither team could draw first blood in the first 15 minutes of regulation. #21 McLain Murphy started strong scoring a pair of unassisted goals, plowing through the Jam defense and with outstanding faceoffs the by Union Army looked to have a very good shot at winning the championship. Two goals would the most goals Jam would allow in this match-up due to stellar goal tending and some poor shot placement by UA shooters. Little by little Jam started clicking, the goals started flowing and pretty soon Jam had scored three goals in as many minutes and never looked back. 5 different goal scorers, 12 saves, 5 late faceoff wins, and 80% in 50/50 ground balls lead Jam to the win. Congratulations to the boys in purple and we hope to see you all next season.

Fairfield Grifters edge the defending Champs in an OT Thriller!

Fairfield Grifters 10 vs ULAX Select 9

This was one of the best games, if not the best game, ever hosted at a ULAX Cup Tournament. The ULAX Select team entered the game undefeated in tournament play (5-0), while the Grifters (4-1) only loss came at the hands of the Select team the day before. Jim Bauer, the Fairfield Grifters head coach, was focused throughout the tournament and made some slight adjustments for the championship game. The Grifters started out hot and seemed to hold a 2-3 goal advantage throughout the first half, but it was in the second half that the ULAX Select team began to wake up. They scored five unanswered goals to tie it up at nine a piece and just when you didn't think the game could get any better it went to Overtime. The Fairfield team won the opening possession and didn't look back. The game winner by Liam McNamara stunned the crowd and the ULAX Select team, which looked unbeatable the day before. The Grifters popped a few cold one's on their way to their first Liberty Cup title and this game certainly raised the bar in terms of overall talent and excitement at a ULAX tourney. Eric Luhrmann provided strong goaltending for Fairfield as well and the top player nod for Select goes to Tyler DeVito, who scored 3 Goals.

Great win for Union Army over Mirage

Mirage 5 vs Union Army 9

A hard found battle by both teams in one of the most competive games this season but it was the early faceoff wins, hight time of posission and stellar goal tending by Pfeiffer that lead to the Union Army victory. Notably Murphy lead his team in point with a triad of goals and an assist. Union Army will he heading to it’s third Championship in as many years. While the Mirage will play White Bear for 3rd place.

Jam heading to the championship

White Bear Lacrosse 2 vs Jam 15

Jam continues to apply pressure and at time scored at will. Jam took an early 3 goal lead and White Bear was able to take the score to within one goal. However with hat tricks from Shover, Haar and McCarthy and 5 other goal scorers Jams lead grew steadily as the game progresses. Jam will play for the Northshore Championship while White Bear will play for 3rd place.

Queen City Takes finish 1st place with a FLAWLESS VICTORY!

Spartans 7 vs Queen City 11

Queen City finishes off an undefeated season with one more final win over the Spartans. The Spartans played a great first half and leading into the second half they had a great chance but the offensive powerhouse Austin Thomas (4G) helped Queen City tear away!

905 Squad secures 2nd place in regulation play

905 Squad 14 vs Varsity Booze 8

This head-to-head match up was tight in the first half with some electric offensive and defensive effort being generated from both sides. Varsity Booze's Attack Field Burgoyne was finding the back of the net with great transition generated from Christian Beattie and David Delle Fave. Sam Krempel, Varsisty's stay at home D as well as the borrowed 2x uLAX Champion Tendy Andrew Shen did a good job keeping the ball out of the net, however fell short in the second half as the 905 Squad peeled away. The 905 offensive charge was led by Christopher St-Cyr (5G), Tommy Watt (3G) and Dylan Webster (4G). Huge shoutout to both goaltenders who played their hearts out but extra cred to Damon Moran (905 Tendy) who's incredible save in the first half may have fuelled the momentum swing that secured Varsity Booze's 2nd place regulation finish. 1st Star - Troy Webster, Attack, 905 Squad (4G, 3A) 2nd Star - Damon Moran, Goaltender, 905 Squad (Big Saves and transitions) 3rd Star - Sam Krempel (Big defensive efforts)

Mirage Over White Bear For the #3 Seed

White Bear Lacrosse 2 vs Mirage 7

With the last game of the regular season Mirage and White Bear go after the number 3 spot. Drop in Aidan Conley started the scoring dfor the Mirage while Will Leclair answered back for the White Bear. However while teams traded goals early in the game the Mirage was able to string 3 unanswered goals and in the game 5-2 and securing the 3 seed. White Bear will play Jam while Mirage will play Union Army. Good luck in the playoff boys.

Jam Undefeated During Regular Season

Union Army 6 vs Jam 7

With the final week of the regular season Jam and Union are set to square off in a battle for the #1 seed. Jam being undefeated and UA being 3-1 having only lost to Jam, both lax squads are set of the task. Back and fourth action keeps the fans on their heels as the onlookers cheer whenever a goal is scored. Jam pulls ahead at the half but Union Army is able to to take a late 3 goal run tying the game up at 6-6. However a late goal but drop-in Nick Nayersina was able to score the go-ahead which allowed the guys in purple to run out the clock. Jam will be the #1 seed and will pay the loser of the Mirage and White Bear.

905 Squad pulls away from Spartans early in game 4

905 Squad 10 vs Spartans 3

Despite the Spartans relatively competitive first half, they were unable to keep up with the pace set by the 905 Squad late last Sunday evening. A regular strong performance from 905's attack, Dylan Webster (3G), helped the team secure a first half lead but it was really 905's defence Tommy Watt who had an outstanding game with 3G and 1A on top of some shut down defence. 1st Star: Tommy Watt (3G,1A), Defence, 905 Squad 2nd Star: Dylan Webster (3G), Attack, 905 Squad 3rd Star: Matteo Pecchia (2G), Attack, Spartans

The Queen City pace continues with an undefeated record

Varsity Booze 7 vs Queen City 17

Despite a strong second half performance from the Varsity Booze, it just wasn't quite enough to keep up with the lighting pace of Queen City as they continue their 4 game win streak. With recent excitement over the team's undefeated record, ULAX analytics team deep dove into the stats sheet to try to identify where the key to their success comes from and sure enough last Sunday an unidentified attack, #25 on Queen City lit up the scoreboard with 5 goals and 3 assists. However, without hesitation, a large supporting role from Queen City Kazuki Sato (4G,1A) and big defensive/transition efforts from James Keane. Notable performance from Varsity Booze's star midfielder Christian Beattie (2G,1A) and tendy Andrew Sloan for standing on his head.

Jam Over White Bear

Jam 10 vs White Bear Lacrosse 3

As the second half of the season starts, so do the rematches. With both teams held scoreless throughout the first 5 minutes it looked like this was going to be a defensive battle. Matt Boyle connected with the back of the net, which was all Jam needed to get things going. Finishing the night with 10 goals over White Bear, Jam looks to the #1 seed going in the final regular season game.

Union Army By 1 Over the Mirage

Union Army 6 vs Mirage 5

Matching up again these fierce rivals took the field looking for the big win. Mirage went up to an early lead scoring early and often taking the lead to 5-1 and held it through the first 35 minutes of regulation. Union Army's persistence and tenacity kept the goals coming as time went on until tying the game 5-5 with 5 minutes left. The go ahead came from Emmett Sullivan with only 2 minutes left. This goal was enough to secure the victory and increase Union Army's record to 3-1 with a huge rematch for first place next week against Jam.

Varsity Booze 7 vs Spartans 8

Last Sunday at 8pm the Spartans and the Varsity Booze clashed in a fiercely competitive match up that had fans on the edge of their seats. Both teams were neck and neck by the end of the first half with a tied game at 5-5 with no clear indication who was going to pull away. That same tone carried over to into the second half with both teams trading goals until Spartan's Attack, Will Gibson, emerged out of lacrosse abyss and channeled his inner sniper rifle with a shot that found that back of net to secure the win! 1st Star: Will Gibson (3G, 2A), Spartans 2nd Star: Christian Beattie (3G,2A), Varsity Booze 3rd Star: Graham Knox (1G, Big Defence), Spartans

Queen City Takes Over 1st Place in the League

Queen City 10 vs 905 Squad 8

Two heavy weight teams went head to head last week with a close yet very anticipated outcome! An exciting first half, Queen City pulled away with 7 twine ticklers, distancing themselves from the competition. With their newly acquired Tendy (Andrew Shen), Queen City was able to keep the 905 Squad at bay, only allowing 3 against. 905 Squad's Connor Deuchars turned up the heat in the second half by threading 3 passes for 3 goals and closing the score gap, however it wasn't enough as the legend from Japan (Queen City's own Kazuki Sato) found the back of the net for a hat trick, putting the nail in the coffin and securing the big dubb, advancing the team into 1st place in the league. 1st Star: Kazuki Sato (3G,3A), Queen City 2nd Star: McNein Hewitt (4G,1A), 905 Squad 3rd Star: Andrew Shen (Allowed only 3 goals in first half)

Jam 5 vs Mirage 2

A defensive battle waged in week 3 with Jam proving why they are undefeated, while the Mirage struggled the most putting points on the board since week 1. Huge plays by both teams goalies kept the match closer then it may have been however without the big times shooters from the previous week Mirage could not find the back of the net enough times and Jam remains undefeated. All teams will break for the 4th of July and reengage in competition in two weeks. Happy Independence Day, have fun and stay safe!

Union Army Overcomes to Win Big

Union Army 9 vs White Bear Lacrosse 7

With their best performance of the year White Bear came out strong leading most of their week 3 match up vs Union Army. As the game progressed the momentum from great goaltending and strong faceoffs started building and Union Army was able to tie the game up midway through the 2nd half. Continuing their efforts UA was able to take their first lead with about 5 minutes left in regulation and followed it up quickly with another goal, growing the lead by 2 goals. Unfortunately weak offensiveness possessions and a couple "too many men" penalties kept White Bear form being able to tie the game up and Union Army (2-1) took their second win of the, while White Bear (0-3) while White Bear still looks for their first win midway through the season.

Spartans are good sports and Queen City is good at sports

Queen City 22 vs Spartans 2

Queen city lit up the stats sheet on Sunday. Big shoutouts out Spartan's Matteo (1G) and Scott Quinn (1G) for destroying any odds of a shutout that Damon Moran (905 Boys Tendy who stepped in for Queen City) may have had. Honourable mention to Spartan's Tendy Dylan Cox for generating serious offence in the first half with multiple end-to-end marathons featuring swim dodges, rolls and some great mid-field collisions that turned a few heads. This tactical effort did end up back firing in the second half with an empty net goal scored by Queen City but at that point no one was too put off by the attempt. Congratulations to Queen City's Attack Stephan Diachenko who set a new ULAX Summer league Points Per Game high with 9 points (3G, 6A).

And it don't stop for dem 905 Boys

Varsity Booze 5 vs 905 Squad 11

Last Sunday marked the second game of the year for the 905 Boys and they didn't waste any time with a hot start in the first half. Moving the ball around and finding the back of the net seemed to come easy for 39 year old vet Marc Poiveson (2G) who proved that you can teach an old dog new tricks. It's safe to say that the remaining offence was generated by 905 Boys attack Donald Hill (3G) and Christopher St-Cyr (3G) who by the way should arrive early to next game and register those hands because they were lethal. In the second half the Varsity Booze's Attack Field Burygoyne (3G) began to turn up the heat but efforts cooled down as 905 Boys defence Tommy Watt (3A) forced a few key turnovers and transitioned the ball well out of the zone.
